12,000 Indians in Sunsari camps
Many of the Saptakoshi flood displaced from the bordering villages of India, who had entered Nepal seeking relief in the wake of the floods, are still living inside various government-run camps in Sunsari district.

According to Chief District Officer (CDO) Durga Prasad Bhandari, there are over 12,000 Indian flood victims living inside the camps in Inaruwa, Singiya, Laukahi and Haripur.

“We have decided to return these Indian families to their home country after providing them with necessary humanitarian assistance,” he said. “Fifty-five flood displaced families from India have already been returned to their homes.”

A large number of people from the districts such as Supaul, Saharsha, Purniya of Bihar state in India had swarmed to Sunsari district in search of shelter and food after the Saptakoshi floods ravaged their homes and properties on Aug 28.
