This should have been done long back. How come a country be so dimwitted that they allow Chinese food products to be imported for their consumption by their own citizens. This is height of foolishness.

Also products from Nepal aren't great either. I was in Saharsa in Bihar where the markets were flooded with synthetic vegetable oil and other things from Nepal that were much cheaper than Indian products. I stayed there for a month and underwent severe health problems.

Better late than never. Spurious and contaminated Chinese food products have been taking lives of thousands of Chinese lives and the state controlled media used to gag those reports from coming out. Still a few incidences do come out.

a) Cheap
b) Undependable
c) Large quantities
d) Potentially harmful

Does that makes any difference? I agree with Ketul that the Nepalese goods ain't much better either. Especially food items. Apart from Nepalese noodles I wouldn't be caught dead eating anything cooked with Nepalese products.
